Our Team

//2015

This year we formed teams from all the years

Fresher - 1
sophomore - 2
Junior - 3
Senior - 2

Group of 8 students were from different departments of our college(SRM University)

  1. ELECTRONICS & INSTRUMENTATION ENGINEERING
  2. AEROSPACE ENGINEERING
  3. TELECOMMUNICATION ENGINEERING
  4. ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATION
    ENGINEERING

We had started from a scratch again and hoped to complete this competition with flying colors. Our technical guide Mr Vasant Kumar and our mentor Mrs. Sunitha had helped us a lot in development of our team and our cansat.

we had scored:
25rd in the Preliminary Design Review(PDR). (worldwide)
it was for the first time that we were giving a PDR. it was a tele-conference round in which scientists of Naval research Laboratory, NASA, and AAS group together and scrutinize our design.

 23rd in the Critical Design Review(CDR). (worldwide)
the procedure of this round is similar to the PDR round. here we rectify our design flaws and show the working simulation of all the subsystems individually. By this time the scientists expect the teams to almost complete the process of manufacturing of payload and container

5th in the Flight round + Post Flight Round(PFR). (worldwide)
here we had to launch our Cansat. this round is held in USA. Final hopes and 2 years of hard work finally gave us cake

//2014

THIS SECTION IS ABOUT THE DESCRIPTION OF OUR TEAM.

We had formed a group of 10 students from different departments of our college(SRM University)

  1. ELECTRONICS AND INSTRUMENTATION ENGINEERING
  2. INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL ENGINEERING
  3. AEROSPACE ENGINEERING
  4. MECHATRONICS ENGINEERING
We had started from a scratch and hoped to complete this competition with flying colors. Our technical guide Mr Vasant Kumar and our mentor Mrs. Sunitha had helped us a lot in development of our team and our cansat.

We were given the research lab of the department of Electronics and Instrumentation for the fabrication and development of our cansat. We had worked non-stop for 9 months and  still we didn't achieve our goal of securing top 10  RANK in the final round of the competition.

we had scored
23rd in the Preliminary Design Review(PDR). (worldwide)

30th in the Flight round + Post Flight Round(PFR). (worldwide)
here we had to launch our Cansat. this round is held in USA. We were very disappointed with the result. Its common for a fresher team to face problems like these. we couldn't bag the Cansat trophy but what we learned was really priceless.

A total of 63 teams had participated

Our team after the PFR round. at the TEXAS STATE TECHNICAL COLLEGE.
In order to make use of our experience we had decided to share this experience with our juniors, so that they don't face the problems which we had faced.

Regarding funding, we had spent each and every penny from our own pocket. Director had only promised to fund for the components required for the development and manufacturing of Cansat.

Our team after PFR
